Your Child's First Visit
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommend that children receive their first dental check-up by age 1. These first visits help your child become comfortable in a dental setting and allow us to observe dental changes from an early age. During the visit, we will get to know your child and help them feel comfortable in the office by explaining what will happen during the visit and showing them the tools we use to help keep their smile healthy.
We encourage parents to accompany their children during their visit. This provides an opportunity to see us working with your child and allows us to discuss dental findings and treatment needs directly with you. During the first visit, we will review your child's medical/dental health history, perform a thorough head and neck examination, and evaluate your child's teeth and gums. Digital radiographs (x-rays) are taken only if necessary. If no treatment is needed, the teeth will be cleaned, and a fluoride treatment will be provided.

First Orthodontic Visit
We are always excited to meet new patients! When you come in for your initial consultation, please be sure to bring your insurance card (if applicable) and arrive early to fill out our initial paperwork if you have not already done so.
During your initial consultation, your doctor will discuss your motivation and goals for seeking orthodontic treatment. Our team will review any x-rays and notes provided by your dentist and create images of your teeth and the surrounding tissues using cameras and x-rays to help determine if orthodontic treatment is indicated. We will then present your diagnosis and recommend treatment options, working to develop a plan that best fits your individual needs. We will discuss treatment options, timelines, costs, and payment options for any proposed treatments.
Once your treatment plan and financial arrangements have been determined, we will schedule the first series of appointments to begin orthodontic treatment. We will also provide you with an estimated timeline for future visits. Your first appointment generally takes about one hour and will need to be scheduled during the morning. After this appointment, you will return for adjustments and evaluations every 4-6 weeks. These appointments will only take between 15-20 minutes and can be scheduled in the afternoons.
